This is a collection of printed/electronic resources (books, DVDs, etc.) listed in course syllabi. It is also referred to as Course Reserve, Student Reserve, or the Short Loan Collection.

  • Requests to add resources to the Course Reserve Collection are made by the instructor responsible for the course and by teaching staff.
  • An instructor may also request that their personal copies be added to the course reserve collection.
  • To ensure resources are provided on time, “Course Reserve Collection Requests” must be sent to [email protected] no later than eight weeks before the start of the academic term.
  • The Library supports instructors who make requests in determining the resources to include in their syllabus.
  • When determining the number of copies of a resource to be added to the Course Reserve Collection, whether the resource is a core/supplementary source and the course’s student quota are taken as the basis.
  • When determining the number of printed/electronic copies of core course resources, the calculation is made so that there is one copy for every 20 students enrolled in the course.
  • When determining the number of copies of resources listed in the syllabi of more than one course, the total student quota of those courses is taken into account.
  • Printed resources in the Course Reserve Collection may be borrowed only by the course instructor and students enrolled in the course.
  • The loan periods for printed Course Reserve resources may be 4 hours and overnight, or 1, 3, or 7 days, taking into account the number of students enrolled in the course and the number of copies of the resource.
  • Borrowed information resources may be recalled before their due date in order to be added to the Course Reserve Collection. Resources recalled before classes begin must be returned within 7 days, and those recalled after classes have begun must be returned within 3 days. A “Late Fee” is applied to resources that are not returned within the specified period after being recalled.
  • An “hourly / daily overdue fee” is applied to resources borrowed from the reserve collection that are not returned within the specified period.
  • At the end of the academic term, resources are removed from the Course Reserve Collection. For this reason, instructors must renew their Course Reserve Collection requests each term.
  • Transferring the resources in course syllabi (books, articles, etc.) to digital media, reproducing them by photocopying, and selling them as course-material selections / reading packs without the written permission of the rights holders is restricted by the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works.
  • During routine YÖK and YÖKAK audit processes, whether the core and supplementary resources listed in course syllabi have counterparts in the library collections is reviewed and assessed. To avoid problems during audits, it is very important that course syllabi are submitted to the Library.
